Before you do anything drastic, replace the handles on the lower cabinets with something large and bright. All that black without relief is depressing. You might need to also replace the handles on the top cabinets also. Then add only opaque objects to your counter-top in colors of your choosing.

You need some life in the space: Think about adding color unless you are fully committed to the black and white. If black and white, then decorate with panda bears and penquins. If you are going with black and white, then consider a rug by the sink in those colors to bring some of the white down to the floor

I kind of like that kitchen it needs so color for sure how about a roman blind with some color and a bit of the black and the whiteb add some color to accents on the counter evena cooffee maker a color could work. Get a real plant and you seem to have blavk in the LR so not sure why you are concerened right now about the black . You have abcksplash and IMO no tile above it maybe a wall color that brings so life into the space

Cute kitchen! It looks like you already have a built in backsplash (same material as the countertop) so you can just keep what you have or have it removed and switch to tile that goes up to the cabinets. But if you just bought the condo, you might want to live with it a little while to see if you like it before changing.

Have you considered adding plants flanking the window? I agree some color would be nice in the space and I think a splash of living green would be lovely.

The floor and rattan blind are the key to the new aesthetic you can do easily. id look at granite w creams browns and the touch of black. Leaving cabinets as is but get some beautiful neutrals and some movement at the counter. itll be great.

You actually do have a backsplash, although narrow. The contrast between black and white looks great. I wouldn't do a thing except maybe change out the hardware on the base cabinets. Save your natural color tones for another room.

Remove the short riser to add backsplash tile (color!) or tile just behind the range.

Live with it for a bit. Your naturals could come in the form of wood 😘

I really like the kitchen. It needs a little life. Right now it feels like you aren't living there yet. Put some colorful dishes in the glass cabinet. A pretty bowl with some fruit. A nice plant by the sink or some herbs.

Live with it for a while and then see what you think.

I decided to leave the cabinets and countertop alone and just replace the door handles and knobs with brushed nickel. I'm gonna change out all the knobs to handles. I think long handles on the top and bottom cabinets would look nice. And add a plant near the sink.

It's a new space. It will take a minute to warm up to it. Just do a couple of things, then step back. It can evolve over time. A nice floor mat and colorful blind would be really nice too. I don't mind the rattan blind - it adds some warmth, but I don't like that it is covering the moldings - I prefer an inside mount for those types of blinds.

Hi Debbi. Yes, I agree about a floor mat. Thats on my to-do list too. I might replace the blind in the future. I agree about inside mounts being nicer and cleaner looking. It's hard to tell from the pictures but the center post of the window sticks out a lot so there would need to be 2 inside mount blinds. Thats probably why it's an outside mount. I'm not sure how good 2 blinds would look.

Be careful when choosing pulls where knobs were it usually does not work since the holes do not line up .Love that backsplash but not with rattan sorry.

I would paint the track lighting in the living room white or switch it to recessed.

I think you have a really good foundation and it just needs some accessories and new hardware. Your living room reminds me of William McClure's style; you might get some ideas from his IG/website.

You could do a peel and stick wallpaper backsplash to add a little color. I would bring it up a few inches past the bottom of the window and add a small piece of trim to finish. I like the existing rattan shade. I also like the idea of the shelf under the window and changing out the hardware, especially on the base cabinets.
