Good evening all,

We are looking for a new lighting fixture for the space picture below which will have a wood mid-modern table and green velvet sofa in the living room. We are considering replacing one (or both) of the 2 fixtures. We like Kare-Design bold, fun, "eclectic" style (something like this - https://www.kare.be/en/chandelier-suspension-lighting/3952-pendant-lamp-parecchi-colore-100cm-kare-design-4025621357773.html) . [sadly we are struggling to find where to buy their designs]

Any recommendations of places that offer similar styles? Would you place the "bold"/dramatic fixture over the island or the dining table?

often folks don’t like clicking on links so it would help to post pics of the fixtures you’re considering -

lighting is super personal.. for me those fixtures seem like they are trying too hard to be different/modern - but I prefer simpler/cleaner lines (I would want a fixture hung at the right height over the table to help define that space)

Right now everything is light and bright, are you trying to bring in more contrast and make it moodier?

IMO any new chandelier needs to be hung lower the bottom of the light 36" from the table top . I do not see much color so I am all for adding some but it needs to be aded with some balance so not just one fixture dropped into a space . The first fixture is in the UK and I do not find one in the US but Vakkerlighting is easily found .

Thanks for the feedback. We do like having few non standard items and making ”bold” choices (especially with things that can be easily replaced). Would you place the new lighting over the table? in that case would you keep the fixture over the island? Any recommendations of fun brands would be appreciated:-)

I love thta light from Vakkerlight it has nice colors easy to work with the pendants in the kitchen and easy to change the plillows on the sofa to colors from that light .

The one from Amazon maybe but for sure not that one from Celery what a mess of styles and never from Aliexpress for lighting .

@Patricia Colwell Consulting I fell in love with several Vakkerlight fixtures and was heartbroken today to read they are a complete scam using images from real designers but shipping cheap knock-offs. I don't want to believe it. I found several fixtures on Amazon and some other vendor sighs like Lamps Plus and Lumens. I don't know who to trust. I feel like I have to start all over again. Please! Someone who knows... Help the OP and me too.
