Rug?

A mirror would be nice....something that's in a foyer typically. A statement chandelier would be dramatic if you have an outlet.

The painting is very nice but you could use art in the main hallway, too. Black and white fine photography to be seen from such a close distance and just two or three smaller prints.

A rug for the main hall only. The painting is in the right spot...don't move it from that niche.

Speaking of the niche, you might be able to fit a shelf under the painting on that wall abutting the inside corner and of the same depth.

I can't see all the walls but the mirror should be placed convenient to check one's appearance...just don't have it facing out the front door.

I agree the art better than a mirror that would only reflect a blaank wall and make that hallway look worse . Maybe a really narrow shelf under the art but really antthing protuding into thta narrow space will not be good. No runner going to the bedroom only one in the main entry hall

Yes, they say mirrors should reflect something interesting but a mirror will add light and depth. You could hang macrame art on the opposing wall to reflect in it.

The door faces down into the main hallway. There are no windows etc in the entrance. I was considering putting a mirror next to the door And max size is 35”x35” roughly. Maybe a cluster of small mirrors ? I would like a mercury glass look with some texture. Thoughts?

Anything reflective is nice but any mirror must reflect something interesting.

In a tight hallway like this, your mirror is a tool as well as a design choice. Its reflection is not observed from any position other than when you are right in front of it. Therefore, it is reflecting “something interesting.” You! Get the mirror.

I don't want to watch myself walking down a hall. Not interesting to me.

Hallway going towards the living room - long rug, another piece of artwork, sconces on either side. No mirrors. Not here.

I think it would be helpful to see the whole plan there that hallways is just not good design at all.

A colorful rug will help direct people to the living area. If you absolutely need a mirror, a small one with a built in shelf might work, but with a narrow space and nothing special to reflect, I would skip it.

The long hallways can be “your gallery” of artwork and photos. Good lighting will make them both function better. Pick interesting lights but make sure they give you adequate illumination.

Do you need/use the mirror? It looks like it’s reflecting the inside of some room. If not, consider large art work in place of the mirror.

The hallway is long dark and narrow so the mirror expands the light
