I need your help, please. ❤️

I want to do a soft renovation in my living. I want to leave the furniture but enhance the walls.

My first impression is this room needs color. I’d move the photo gallery to wall next to TV & tighten the spacing up so frames are closer together. For the wall those photos are on, I’d find a large & colorful art - about the size of TV or window - & hang it there. Something cheerful & that makes everyone who looks at it smile. I see a bare wall around the corner from the shelf unit & outside of the TV room - looks like a dining area over there - maybe the photo gallery could be hung there.

I'd get a rug with more color and texture. Can still be a neutral color, but something more going on with it. I'd prefer a large focal piece of art on the small wall where that shelving unit is to the left of the door. A taller plant in the corner will add more texture and height to the space.

I commend you on such a tidy home with kids living in it.

As others have mentioned , I would add more colorful art on the walls, and use lamps/ tables so that you can turn off the overhead lighting.. That lighting makes everything look harsh.

I would prefer a different type of window treatment, perhaps more traditional curtains?

Good day, everyone. I would like to share an update on the project. While I am not particularly drawn to vibrant colors, I have taken some of your feedback into consideration and have begun incorporating neutral colors into the design. The process is still ongoing, but I wanted to share the progress thus far. Thank you again!

@Nandie Wilmot Your changes look wonderful! The addition of warm wood with the nice coffee table & rearranging the photo gallery by TV & adding large & simple image art to the other wall makes the room much more welcoming. Love your Christmas tree too! Thank you for coming back to show us. It’s so much fun to see the suggestions made when they’re taken & do actually work!
