Kitchen Cabinet Paint Colors

last year
last modified: last year

I have new quartz countertops with a taupe veining and a white harringbone backsplash. I need help picking a color for our kitchen cabinets. I've tried several different colors and nothing seems to work. I'm tempted just to paint them white (I'm looking at Benjamin Moores decorator white, but am afraid it will be to blinding in my south facing kitchen. I am open to suggestations, our painter will be here on Monday!

Which quartz countertop do you have exactly? The white background + amount and type of veining varies quite a bit between different manufacturers + each manufacturer (distributor) has MANY faux marble types of quartz slabs). It would be helpful if you added a close up photo of the actual countertop + the brand and name.

Are you open to painting your walls? What color are they currently? Also, what tiles did you use for your backsplash?

A good photo showing the real color of your floors is also needed. Add descriptive words to your photo if you don't have the exact brand/name of floor tile.

Different screens show will make the colors look different in all of the above + your camera on your phone makes color adjustments when taking photos.

Do you have an inspiration photo of kitchens that you love/like?

Cabinets should be painted by a cabinet painter, not a regular painter, and there is a lot of prep, to get done, before cabinets can be painted. The cabinets need to be cleaned with a good cleaner that removes all film and kitchen grease, etc. Then, they need to be sanded really well, and then, they need to be wiped down really well, before sealing bonding primer, and a coat of good special paint for cabinets. If you are not getting that done, you will have a chipped and peeling mess to deal with before very long. It can take many days, to do prep, and many more days, to get them all painted correctly. I would think, long and hard about that, since your cabinets do look to be in good condition, and wood cabinets are all back in style again. I would paint the walls, get some accessories with a bit of color.

With a white counter and backsplash you have so many options. Do you have any idea what you want your kitchen to look like? Any inspiration images? Here are some that may help.

i would not paint the cabinets. If you want to spruce things up there are other things you can spend money on and be less work/ cheaper/ and a better answer to "freshen up" the space.

Deep clean the cabinets and island. Change the window treatments perhaps fabric roman folds. No need to paint cabinets.
