1. What colors do you have in the hallway next to the bedroom, what colors do you have in the guest bath? What colors do you love? What will work best with the rest of your home?

SW Alabaster will be used on all the doors and trims and walls in adjacent hallway.

I need to see the space ? Picking a color out of a hat with no context never works . This is IMO a real neutral even more than most whites so that would be my choice pulled out of the hat . I often choose it for clients when a builder needs to paint I cut it 25-50% usually It is a BM color

What are the floors? If you already own furniture that will be in this room, show us that. In the absence of any other information, I suggest looking at Egret White, Shoji White or Natural Choice. Alabaster will go with a lot of things, so just bring home a bunch of paint chips to look at to start narrowing down what you like. Then move on to larger samples before you buy gallons of paint.

Can you post photos of the room as well as adjacent spaces. There are factors to consider. If it is a north facing room that doesn't receive much sunlight you might not want to paint the room blue.

Impossible to recommend an exact color, as it takes bringing home paint chips, narrowing down/testing 2 or 3 and seeing how they look, based on the lighting. Your furniture and flooring having an effect visually and of course, a personal preference. A neutral is easier to decorate around vs blue and you can just add blue components into room.

I'd choose SW Alabaster, it will look different in your office and you can add any colors as needed.

Unfortunately I can’t get a photo of the room right now. It’s a new house we haven’t moved into yet and I only have photos with former home owners belongings. It’s a standard 4 wall bedroom, with a small north facing window and small east facing window. The floors are a light natural wood. I will be putting a Murphy bed which by will be white or warm chestnut colored wood. The only furniture I have to move in is a small desk - mid century modern style, color is warm chestnut.

I'm a fan of white linen (BM) and white tie (FB) for a really nice warm white. We just used it in our guest room / office that has east facing windows. We have a lot of wood furniture in there both traditional and MCM.

FYI - Sherwin Williams stores can mix paint for you in any companies colors. You don't just have to pic their color. How big is the room? Do you have other items that dictate color such as window treatments or a rug?

I often share two different whole home color pallets as examples.

The idea is that the rooms in your home should create a feeling of harmony as you walk from room to room

Imagine a home with the livingroom from one image and the other rooms from the other image. . .

They feel awkward together . . . They lack harmony. . .

Lots of colors are pretty, but they have to go with the other colors in your home.

Natural light is coming from what direction? Alabaster has yellow undertones that can show strong in certain light. You may want to rethink Alabaster and consider SW Pure White for trim and ceilings. Blues don't do very well in north light...yes, more info is needed.

@coronar, Okay, Alabaster is your trim color and will be used as the main neutral through the main areas of the home. This, combined with your flooring is the backdrop for everything else you own. Furniture, art, linens, area rugs and other decor.

What other colors do you want in your home? What colors make your heart sing?

Do you want the entire home to be white with color as the accents or do you want the bedrooms and bathrooms, laundry room to be something else?

I just helped my niece pick colors for her home.

I pulled a couple of the listing photos of her last home so you can see that she is drawn to blues and greens. They are listing photos, so her art and decor was minimized.

This is the color pallete we selected for the new home.

Floors are white oak with Provencial Stain (Pic is not her floor, but one from the internet)

I also have a picture here of a dried floral arrangement that she liked and was trying to replicate for in her dining room. Again she found a floral arrangement that has some blue. I know that she was drawn to this because of the blue.

Can you see how we used the neutral - Edgecomb Gray as the backdrop and the other wallcolors to bring in the colors from her belongings so that the colors will flow from room to room.

She probably wouldn't have picked pink and purple for the two kids rooms, but they were the colors that her little girls wanted.

Now what is your color story - how do you want to bring your colors into your home?

Are you drawn to blues and greens like my niece or are you like me and love wine reds and deep purples or like my sister in law who loves cornflower blue and peach or my sister who loves fall colors - greens with golds and orange reds?
