Update painted brick fireplace

My mom sponge painted this over 20 years ago. My thought is to paint it an off white (BM Simply White?) And leave the gray grout lines. Also, this is a north faxing room with large windows and I'd like to paint the walls slightly warm but can't stand the orange in the current color. Any suggestions?
