Here is Sterling’s quilt just back from the quilter. I am very pleased with what she did.

The binding is not on yet, but I had it laid out on the floor so I could admire it.

My chemo quilts all have machine sewn on the front bindings, and special quilts get hand sewn on the back. But I just couldn’t face stitching 400” . So, a compromise. I will do a flange binding, black with the yellow flange. Then I can sew from the front.

Another compromise was the corners. I planned to do the four patch all the way around and then mitre the corners. But even with pages of planning and drawing and sewing, there was a misstep somewhere and it would not mitre nicely . The white worked but not the four patch. Thus the yellow corner patch.

Tomorrow is binding, I hope.

Very nice, Theresa! I always hand stitch bindings on the back. I’ll have to look into the flanged binding…never tried it!

SOOO CUTE!!! Theresa, I almost always do flanged bindings. Easy and I love machine quilted borders especially for kids' quilts that will see lots of washing machine time.

Stewart’s quilt is just as cute as can be. I love the four patches. They were the perfect choice for borders. He will absolutely love it, and you for making it.

Very cute, Theresa! I've never done a flanged binding but I'm about to look it up to find out how to do it, lol.

I put that on today, now I just have to clip a few threads and make a label.

How do you all attach your labels? I usually blind stitch it to a lower corner on the back.

And I still have enough of the white fabric for a couple of pillow cases. Tomorrow, maybe.

I don't use labels anymore. I used create custom labels with my embroidery machine, but I could not bring another machine or supplies for embroidery on board. I now just free motion "write" the quilt name, date finished, and my name somewhere in a lower right hand border.
