Dining room lighting dilemma

last year
last modified: last year

Hi everyone!

I’m trying to figure out lighting for my dining area. Currently there are two recessed lights . I don’t like the bright overhead recessed lights as they are but I’m thinking there still needs to be some light directly over the table. I was considering pendants but I’ve run into a dilemma with centering the pendants over the table.

This space is intended to be for banquette seating. If I push the table towards the window to use the banquette seating, the pendant lights won’t be centered over the table. I could just add a dimmer switch to the recessed lights and that may solve the problem.

If I leave the table where it is, I’ll need to fit 3 chairs on the window side which could be a little crowded. (I’m planning to seat 3 on one side and 3 on the other with no chairs on the ends).

Would a floor lamp where the plant is or a table lamp on the buffet be enough?

I‘ve also got a rug on the way and some art for over the buffet to bring everything together. Haven’t decided on chairs yet.
