what type of blinds ?

last year

Having cellular blinds put in my kitchen area and debating whether to get in the living room too. Currently just use my sheer blinds which doesn’t provide full privacy. What kind of window treatment would you get ? Roman shades or faux wood? Looking for something affordable that goes with the space.

What are you trying to accomplish? Texture? Privacy? Light control? What don’t you like about the shears? Why cellular shades in the kitchen?

Privacy at night. In the day I keep them open for light. The curtains don’t provide full privacy at night. Can see right in from the street.

Have only one set of cellular shades in kitchen but want to match and get for the rest of the windows.

If you want full privacy at night cellular, Roman’s and venetians all accomplish that. I would get nicer fabric drapes as end panels. Since you are already getting cellular maybe stick with those though they are my least favorite of the three.

We went with Plantation Shutters in our LR and DR. Following disappointment with draperies these became a cost effective solution.

I am one to recommend cellular shades for almost any space .I love the look and the function of them.

However, in this case, when I saw your photo what jumped to my mind are the shutters.

My daughter had them put into their front window and they look so nice! There is just somethinng about the room that made that first thought pop up.

In my house, thought, shutters would get so dirty. At my daughters house things dont seem to get a layer of dust on them. I think it may be becasue they dont have a HVAC that blows things around. They have hot water baseboard heat and it is wonderful .It is quiet and doesnt blow anything around.

Secondly, cellular shades are wonderful! I love mine!

I do like the look of the shutters but I like having the light and view in my living room. Feel like that would darken. Would faux wood blinds give similar feel?

Woven shades would look really nice there. I've purchased several times from Blinds.com and have been happy with the quality. Just be sure to order samples before placing the order.

Oooh I do like those ! I used to have them in my old house in similar color. I think a lighter color would be nice though. Makes the room cozy. Wish there was an app I could see how they would look!! Will have to order samples

I got in my kitchen blinds and propped them in living room to see how they look. I think I like the top up top down blinds for privacy but still let in light. What do you think? Do I need a darker color, like a beige?

For the kitchen, I would be conscious of fabrics that may not be easily cleaned.

To me, cellular blinds/shades are outdated. They remind me of gladiolus flowers at funerals years ago. Maybe look into top down, bottom up in Woven Roman style shades.

It looks like you live in a cold winter climate and you use the room for relaxing and watching tv. It looks great with the curtain panels. Is there enough foot traffic at night that you feel like people are looking in at night? They probably just see the backs of your heads as you sit on the sofa.

    zebra blinds might work.
