Not sure if the first attachment saved correctly

Cute first image! So tell us, how does it relate to you? Do you have grown children, maybe with families, who will visit? for the day, or for a few days? How much time will you spend there, weekends? summer? permanent?

Where is the front door? Where do the stairs lead?

Off hand, I’d suggest kitchen in the new space left by the 2nd bedroom, dining by the sliders. That way the kitchen can take advantage of the existing plumbing. Maybe add an entry door on the right side. Coming from the primary suite and the stairs will be nicer than walking through the kitchen.

Thank you so much! It will be 4 of us for our summer house (my husband and two kids) with family visiting :) and a short term rental for the rest of the year. The front door is at the bottom of the stairs on the first level. The stairs currently lead up directly into the kitchen on the second floor.

Where will the kids sleep?

There are two bedrooms on the first floor 👍

Remodelings have many more existing condition constrains than building a new home that will effect the design. Find a local competent architect that can gather the appropriate information required to come up with an efficient design with you.
