help to integrate my apartment

last year

Hello! I recently worked on refreshing my bedroom and aimed to incorporate a touch of traditional style into the space. Over the years, I’ve been experimenting with different styles, buying furniture and decor pieces that caught my eye at specific moments. As a result, my spaces feel a bit mismatched, like they belong to different homes. While I enjoy modern and mid-century designs, (also some ethnic pottery that belongs my culture)I’d love to blend in some traditional elements to create a more cohesive and timeless look. I’m happy with how the bedroom has turned out so far, but I feel like something is still missing in my living room and dining room, they just don’t seem to flow or work as well together. I’d really appreciate some guidance or ideas on how to balance these styles and bring everything together. Can anyone help me achieve that perfect mix? Thank you!

I will agree you have a lot of mis matched pieces,

they each seem too small, to me. the dining table looks frail incomparison to the bulky sideboard. a closed cabinet for storage so as not to distract from the dining table.

The light fixture over the table is too high. 30-36 inches off the table.

in the living room the dinky woven pieces are too small. your beside tables are too small for all the things you have on them.

I would search for a Tall black piece to replace the 9 drawer piece. no need for that woven cube in the corner. A glass top coffee table so the rug shows through.

I would group all your cultural pieces together for a statement collection.

Same with the greenery. they may look more natural in the living room near the natural light.

Your bedroom is perfection and your living room looks nearly magazine ready. I have no problem with them both in the same apartment because they each look collected and as though they evolved over time. Your dining room is the problem child.

The rest of your furniture has a special look about it whereas your dining table and chairs look like Amazon purchases. Your lighting fixture is the wrong scale and height, and you need a rug to anchor the space.

Is the dining room separate or connected to the living room? How many people do you regularly have at your table?

Get a new table - not glass. Have 3 chair and a fourth elsewhere in the apt that you can bring over when needed.

Clean up the clutter on the bottom shelf of the wood console table. Love that table. It is the only piece in the room that doesn't look bought off of Amazon.

You clearly know what you are doing, you've just lost your way a bit in the dining room. Hope you'll post changes. I'd love to see what you create.

I think the LR needs some color but overall pretty nice but the DR is a no go it does not look like it belongs at all. I know you want some stuff that is your ethnic pottery which can easily be incorporated in your spaces but I do not think the heavy wood items are really neccessary to diplay the pottery . Maybe one of those but not the one in the DR . That table is all wrong I have no idea how you even sit there with that base . I would love to see some art you love with a bit more color both pieces are very dark and moody which IMO would have worked in the bedroom / What is the size of the dining space ? It looks tiny so maybe just a table and a ledge for some pottery . I would hang the chandelier much lower and add a bit more lighting to the LR. I do not think a rug is needed in that small DR
