What tracefloyd says. I would use a larger art piece over the bed, and with a frame in the same general wood tone as the vintage dresser. If the art you have is something you love, reframe it with a generous mat to increase the total size. Whatever art you choose, think about accent pillows and/or a throw blanket that picks up a color from the art.

Move the dresser to the right of the bathroom door. If it fits, that is where I'd put it.

If you need more storage purchase two new chests, one for each side of the bed. They need to be large enough to take up the space and not just tiny night stands.

If you need a place to sit - desk or vanity, I'd put one on the left side of the bed with a complimentary night stand on the right. These pics are obviously not your style but you see the idea. I'd get a much larger piece of art for above your bed that takes up a considerable amount of the bed width.

Is the TV to large to install on the right of the bathroom door instead overlapping the window? Definitely the TV looks to big for the space.

Also, can you make a floor plan showing all dimensions of the room and showing windows and door locations. Because the bed is recessed in an alcove it makes it awkward to have night tables which will be brought forward by what looks like about 12 inches (?) so I'm wondering if another layout would be possible to make the room more functional.

The TV is too big for the space and IMO it needs to be above that vintage dresser somehwere but I need to see the whole space that is every wall. I do not like white bedroom furniture it always looks like kids room so I would do 2 matching night tables with drawers if you need storage , some nice lamps maybe a glass base and white shade tall enough to use for reading . Maybe paint that indent a color to work with the bedding and a much larger piece of art in that niche. I would do some bedding with some color in it but white is good.

I agree with Patricia Colwell - the tv is too large for the room. Also, your room is very symmetrical especially with the bed niche. Would suggest you find some larger and more substantial matching nightstands and move the dresser elsewhere. The artwork you have in the niche is undersized. Would suggest you replace with a larger piece.

Something like this, maybe?

Colors taken from existing art. Painted the wall surrounding the bed niche (could paint more). Moved the walnut chest to the space between the two doors (if it fits there), with TV over it (might need a smaller one). Added nightstands, lamps, wood frame and white mat for art and wood-framed mirror (left wall) in a finish that relates to the chest to help tie the room elements together. (Thrift stores are a great source for frames and mirrors, if budget is an issue.)

I really like the suggestions from @simplynatural for the colour on the back wall. I also suggest you reframe your wall art with a gold frame and matte. Instead of table lamps, I show brass sconces hung inside the alcove and mirrors above the nightstands.

Note: I don't think the TV you presently have would fit on the wall between the 2 doorways so I show a smaller model.
