Everyone is different but i am not a fan of accent walls - I think once you have rugs, art, curtain panels etc installed it will feel more interesting/personal

Make it not generic by picking properly scaled furniture and unique/interesting art/decor that showcases your personality. It won't happen overnight.

Accent walls can work, but it has to be an intentional part of the design and not just to make something not generic.

The house is new and clean. Most people never get to live in a brand new house! You want to add warmth and interest, but not clutter, and without a specific design plan those accent walls would be visual clutter

IMO the bottom of the island is acabinet and should stay the same as the cabinets or at least connect to something in the kitchen I did stainless for my stool area we have grandkids that kick that wall. I see no furnishings so how are you planning wall color ? I use accent walls but always choose the color to have connection to something in the space like this orange for instance it works with the stools . I have a purple wall in my LR but it is in a piece of art on thtat wall. IMO wait until all your stuff is in place thendecide if you need another wall color . A new to you space always seems to want you to put your stamp on it and I agree but not right now .

I like your idea, but agree with the crowd that you might want to move in first. Feel the space with your furniture and art.

For accent wall I prefer wall without windows.

Congrats on your new home! Consider waiting on any color changes until after you get moved in and settled so you can see it better with your furnishings, color accents and window coverings. It's a nice neutral backdrop to work with and you'll be surprised once you have all of your decor in there. I wouldn't change the kitchen for sure, but blending accent colors should be easy when you add counter stools, countertop warm accents, etc.

I think looking at Houzz in a browser is a bit more intuitive than the app - the app is wonky so def don't feel bad about it being confusing! :) i hope you keep posting - you can lots of help as you move in and choose things
