Need help with living room design

last year

I'm looking for design advice for my living room and would love your suggestions! Here's the layout:
I have a blue accent wall on one side and an adjacent wall with a fireplace. The wall opposite the fireplace has a wall-mounted TV with outlets underneath. We don't use the fireplace and want to place a sofa that extends slightly beyond the step in front of it. We also plan to add another sofa along the blue accent wall, with a corner table between the two sofas. I'm struggling with choosing the right sofa colors that complement both the blue accent wall and the fireplace. I also want to add a carpet with geometric patterns to tie everything together.

  • you have any suggestions for sofa colors, carpet ideas, r general styling tips, l'd love to hear them.

Could you clarify how you plan to position a new couch? If you intend to place it directly over the hearth, facing the wall opposite the fireplace, I strongly urge against it. Even though you don’t use the fireplace, to ignore it would be a wonky solution to your layout. There are many posters here who are very good with layouts if given a sketch and dimensions of the room.

Our plan is to place one sofa along the accent wall similar how it’s arranged now and add another piece like a chaise lounge partially blocking the fireplace. TV is wall mounted on the wall opposite the fireplace that’s the reason we’d like to position one sofa directly across from TV for an optimal viewing angle.

I’d love to hear more ideas!

We will be removing all the furniture we currently have and planning to buy new.

I would mount the TV to the left of the fireplace

Here’s a sofa with one end angled, rather than the chaise you described. It may be a better fit than partially covering the hearth.

Here’s the dimensions to see if it will fit your space.

You may want to pull it away from your wall so that you can place a sofa table behind it for lamps. This one has outlets which would be handy.

    Here’s a little mock-up in your room.

This is section opposite to firewall where TV is wall mounted. It’s a very weird setup

    I like angled sofa idea

A sofa even partly in front of the fireplace looks like you bought the wrong furniture. Even if you don’t use the fireplace it is an important design element in your home

Makes sense. Do you have any suggestions on how I could arrange the furniture? Maybe a single sofa along the accent wall with two chairs?

Oh my mistake when I told you to put the TV to the left of the fireplace I thought that was a picture on the wall! I don't think your furniture is wrong for the room you just got to range it you could have two chairs across from the couch or you could turn your couch to face the fireplace and you could have one chair on one side and if you want another chair you can have it on there other side the two chairs facing each other across the room
