C daylilies 2025

last modified: 5 months ago

Show us your C daylilies today. Thinking about last season I remembered that most of my daylilies had a lower bud count. I am hoping we have a spring with close to normal weather for a change.

Cameroon Nights has done wel its first two seasons here.

Cat Dancer, the blooms are always perfect.

Cheese and Wine got moved because it was crowded by a huge clematis. It is taking along time to acclimate to the new spot.

Claudine‘s Charm

Coyote Moon, I cant say enough good things about this daylily……smaller bloom but so many buds and tall.

Coco’s Curiosity

Coast to Coast…..the blooms looks different from day to day.

Clown Parade, first blooms here.

Creamsicle Candy first blooms ever.

Cletus Clatterback is new to the garden.

I didn’t post Crystalline Entity, it has suffered the past two seasons, could be leaving. I have a few more C daylilies will maybe post later.

Sherry - You have so many nice C's! Cameroon Night had some stellar years in my garden before the grubs got so bad. Clown Parade always had good bud count for me. I didn't bring it with me, but I hope to replace it someday. I always like Cheese and Wine and Claudine's Charm.

Here are the C's I still have:

    Chicago Girls

    The Color of Wonderful

    Conspiracy Theory

    Core Values

    Coco's Curiosity

Debra and Sherry, You both posted a lot of wonderful C's. I really like them all except the yellow ones.

Carmen Renee, along with Belle Isle Sentry, is a top bloomer.

Castle Pinkney has been an excellent plant.

Catastrophe Waitress has such great coloring and a lot of buds.

Chance Encounter is such a beauty.

Cherry Treat, not the best picture of it

    Cameroon Nights

Brad, I always enjot seeing Carmen Renee, one of those oldies I guess you will always have.

Looking again at the daylilies posted above,, I finally picked one above the others: Coco's Curiosity.

My favorites out of the one shown are Creamsicle Candy, Coco's Curiosity, and Carmen Renee.

Here are some of my C daylilies.

Cactus Blossom is a great grower (late bloomer too), but I think the color is somewhat dull. It is giving us some good seedlings though.

Cayenne was buried under weeds, but now that we have moved it, I think I will like it. It's a very late bloomer too.

This is supposed to be Celestial Virgins, but the color is so pale compared to its registration photo. It may be mislabeled.

Charlie on a Harley is a good grower and tall, but I don't love the color. As you can see in the post, I am quite picky about color. I want my colors to be saturated.

Cherokee Pass has been in the garden for many years. Unfortunately, we could never get it to set seeds

Chico Tim is probably the only Bell daylily we still grow. Tim's produces some lovely flowers (and his garden is gorgeous), but his Georgia bred daylilies do not like our climate. Chico Tim has been here for many years and does quite well.

Chipmunk is more of a brown color than this photo shows. It's from Margo Reed and is registered with a 40 inch scape.

Chomp is one of the few Lambertson daylilies that we still grow. It makes a rather petite plant in our garden. We have gotten some nice offspring from it.

We don't grow many doubles, but picked up Computer Virus cheap at a local society plant sale. It makes flowers on the small side, but it is a blooming machine.

I'll show a few more in the next comment.

Sherry: You always post the best pictures of Cat Dancer. It didn't like my summer heat, but it obviously loves yours......Debra: I'm sorry to say the The Color of Wonderful has not made it twice now. Douglas daylilies, even the dormants, don't seem to like my pot system. I have a couple of his left, and we will see if they make it this winter. They have nice blooms when alive. Coco's Curiosity is one of my favorites of yours.........Brad: Always a pleasure to see your lavenders and purples. Camaroon Nights (yours and Sherrys) is a looker..........Nan: Crossfire has a saturated color I like. And... pardon my ignorance but what did you mean about Polston's Passion. I don't understand........I'll post my C's under separate header..............Maryl

Maryl, I don't do a good job of proofreading. I meant Polston's passing. I belief his partner Doug has sold off all of his plants.

    A few more C daylilies

Nobody posted Coral Majority, here is mine.

Cherokee Star had low bud count last season.

Ciel d’or is a great small daylily here, striking color.

    Cameroons is relatively new here.

Chico Tim is a good performer here, but I don't think I photographed it this year (or still haven't gone through those photos). Celestial Virgins is indeed quite pale, though not here to the degree of your pic. Catastrophe Waitress is a rich color, though quite subject to fading here.

Claudine's Charm, always beautifully pictured by Sherry, hasn't been as vigorous here as I expected.. Cameroons was much darker here.

Cancun Candy was divided in 2023, and did not do so much this past year. Turned out to be a good time to be divided, as 2024 was generally the pits. Pic from 2023.

Crintonic Beautiful Day is a later bloomer. I would prefer a slightly larger bloom size--not really 6 here so far.

Chamonix is a Munson that still pleases.

    Come By Faith--a newer Emerrich

    Coral Connection, a Davisson

    Chicago Girls was a delight.

Christopher Hitchens was not as tall as in 2023.

Carolina Cool Down was not its best, and I also took fewer pics since I have so many good ones.

Candy Bandit--a Culver I like. Good height.

Crintonic Lip Gloss is smaller than I would like, but a nice color (out of Catastrophe Waitress).

Catherine Folker was an outstanding performer.

    Captain Freckles, a Davisson

Crying in the Wilderness, which is not as tall as it looks here.

Crintonic Fireball, which blooms later, is vigorous.

I like the sparkling color of Calamity Jane. As I recall, 2024 was not a great season (it had lots of company). Pic from 23.

Looking at my photos I realized the twin plagues of deer and red bugs took out most of the beds where my ”C” daylilies resided! Here are some survivors.

Coach’s Magic Man rarely has a spot

Crazy Kate courtesy of Kay. (Can’t imagine the message here!!)

Christmas Mimosas is a great late bloomer

    Creature of the Night

    Clownfish

Crystal Rubies is pretty but a slow increaser

Clown Parade did not perform well last summer

Cloud of Witnesses was a fabulous performer

Sherry: I really liked my Cherokee Star. However, It loves me and then it leaves me. It did so well one year that I was able to share a division with a friend. Then that winter it died. I bought it again and it kind of sat there during the growing season and then almost died again over winter. What's left is in a 6 inch pot just limping along. The color is what draws me to it. Such a wowzer shade of deep red......Mantis: I saw Critonic Fireball and thought it was Deliverer at first. Eye catching color..........Kate: Child of Bethlehem is such a pretty purple with white edge................Here are my contributions to the C line:

Always like to show off one of my favorites. CORAL CORDUROY

Contented Heart: Because I like orange shades. All blooms were double this year but it's not a double so we will see what it does next year. Liked the color regardless:

Another new one. A Douglas. He does the color pink well. Seemed pretty colorfast given late pm shade.

Wow, so many nice ones! Sherry, Cameroons is gorgeous! And of course Coral Majority is so pretty.

Mantis, you have so many great lavenders, it is hard to pick. I narrowed it down to Cancun Candy, Chamonix, and Christopher Hitchens

Kate, Cloud of Witnesses and Coach's Magic Man are so very pretty

Maryl, I do like the color of Coral Corduroy.

I really like COCO'S CURIOSITY and COACH'S MAGIC MAN.

    Here are my C's

CHANCE ENCOUNTER: A classic and well budded.

    CHEROKEE HERITAGE

    COURAGE TO CHANGE

    CHARM CITY CERISE GLOW

    COSMIC SHINER

    CLIFF JUMPER

CLOWN PARADE: Having no problem fighting through the weeds.

    CARELESS DREAM

CHANGED IN A MOMENT on rebloom. I received it from Karol Emmerich in the spring with scapes cut off.

    That is it for me.

Maryl - So sorry to read that The Color of Wonderful and Cherokee Star did not survive for you. I always like your photos of Coral Corduroy.

Kate - I'm liking your dark ones today. Cabernet Caberet and Coach's Magic Man especially draw my attention.

Mantis - Come by Faith and Christopher Hitchens are my favorites of yours.

Nancy - Chico Tim is my favorite of yours. It's a shame Tim Bell's plants in general don't do well for you. He has so many pretty ones.

Brad - Carmen Renee is always such a standout for you! I left mine behind, but it was a good performer.

Coral Corduroy is a favorite of mine too. I like both Changed in a Moment and Cliff Jumper, though all reports seem to indicate that the latter is not a fast multiplier.

The greenish throat of Cliff Jumper is appealing. We will see how it does here. Parent RFK was a disaster.

Changed in a Moment wasn't as nice as in previous years. The icy lavender eye is striking and holds fairly well.

Clash of Absolutes is still not at real clump strength. Curt says that he has made the cross that produced Clash dozens of times, but has not been able to replicate the unique color.

A standout this past year was Crintonic Perfect Kiss. I didn't list earlier, as I forgot the Crintonic prefix. It seemed nicer than when I saw it at Crintonic. Next to lavenders, Curt seems partial to pink.

Crintonic Candy Store is not more than five inches.

    I like Contributing Editor.

Cupid--it is a young plant that needs to show more. Out of Celestial Virgins, it is pastel.

    Crintonic Pancho Villa --decent height

Crazy Awesome. A big flower on a tall scape, it bloomed early midseason. Deserves more evaluation. Behind it is Madame Bessemer.

Crystal Castles did not like 2024. It may need dividing. Around five inches.

Ran across more pics of Come By Faith.

Change of Heart bloomed in persistent heat and dryness. I'm afraid that not many got to see it at the estate. It is a very nice evergreen Joiner cultivar that deserves to be more widely grown. Reliably hardy here.

Cloud Rider. Not as vigorous as Emmerich's Written in Stone, but beautiful.
