powder room puzzle.

last year

We can't decide what to make of this powder room. The faucet coming out of the wall, the countertop and the sink are making decisions difficult. We need ideas for the mirror. Then paint bs wallpaper.

Without seeing the whole room I'm guessing the room is small, so this was someone's solution to a very shallow space for a sink. If this is the space available then it might not be a bad solution. Does the sink function well for hand washing?

If you have more room than this shows then of course you can change it to a more standard arrangement if you want to. A plumber can change the supply lines to a standard configuration.

Absolutely need more pics! Interesting arrangement. Is there enough room to replace counter with a wider one - & keep it wall hung as a shelf if space needs it?

Of course, more information and pics would be helpful. With the toilet paper rolls on the floor, I’m guessing that storage may well be an issue.

A carpenter could work wainscotting around the faucet and spigot. Either as a backsplash above the countertop, or to the floor and/or perimeter of the room.

We mounted two wall sconces thru the mirror glass in our bath and it is beautiful.

a wall mirror end to end, have the holes cut for the faucet. it will make it feel larger and end the strange wall space to the right.

    Previous owners did this.

Laura - the additional pics you’ve supplied do show that the width & length of the counter cannot be changed. I do like the long mirror that was there but it almost seems too rustic for the glam mirrors - both the small oval & prior large rectangle. The shelving that was under counter makes sense too but the free standing aspect of it feels like it’s an after thought add to make do. What’s your goal for look of this room? High glam or ?? Wallpaper would be great & I think it would have to be on wall under sink counter too if that’s left open. Are you considering changing counter material? I’m wondering about closed storage underneath - maybe with sliding doors since it’s close to toilet. I would also remove the large towel bar & install a towel ring on the wall close to the sink. That makes much more sense to me for function. Removing long towel bar also opens up space above toilet for large art to hang.

I like the original rectangle mirror -- it's right for the room.

BUT it needs to be moved a bit to the left. As presented now, a person standing at the sink would have to lean to the right to see himself. The frame is dead-ahead of the sink.

If this leaves things "too short" on the other end, you might need to add another picture in a similar gold frame on the right of the mirror.

What is your style? Show us pics of what a favorite powder room would look like if it were not this size, shape, or with this sink and counter. We can give you suggestions to adapt. Also, do you need storage in here for anything other than toilet paper and a trash can?

Show us pics of what your rooms next to this look like. Do you want this to have a similar style as the rest of your home?
