What's the issue? You can fill the space up with low growing shrubs, but I notice you have a car parked on the edge of the driveway. Do people get out of the car on the side of the dirt? If that's your core problem, you should design for that --- a path to the front door that starts at the place where the doors open. Or you should change your parking or car-exiting habits.

How does this space integrate to the rest of your landscaping, which is covered up? You don't want to design it without considering the rest.

The problem is it is a high foot traffic area with kids and pets and lots of shade. The landscaping is covered up bc we just had snow in Houston. Let me add another pic with it uncovered. We have to park our cars in the driveway so yes when getting out that is where you step down.

Often in these instances people widen the driveway with pavers to account for getting out of the car (say 16"-24") and many plan for that "brick lined concrete" look to begin with. Integrating them to flank the sidewalk or tie into a retaining wall or something as well.
