I daylilies 2025

Let us see your I daylilies, I only have a few. I removed Indian Giver last season….it declined alot the past two seasons. The blooms were unrecognizable. I think it was here at least 15 years. I loved it and will miss it.

Ice Carnival has been here two decades. It is reliable and stays because it blooms late.

Itza Pink Teddy was a bonus plant…glad I have it. It is one of the few that have rebloomed for me and has been the bud queen.

Iddy Biddy Gal is a miniature…..scapes are 10” and it resides at a path edge.

Sherry: I do like ITZA PINK TEDDY

IT'S THE RAGE: It took a long time for it to get settled in. Finally increasing and and looked more like the hybridizer's picture.

INDOMINUS REX: Photo taken at COTTAGE GARDENS

    ISLE OF PATMOS

INCA PUZZLE: Does well in zone 5

INQUIRE WITHIN: Love the subtle violet eye.

INDY SHOCKER: This is the best photo that I have ever gotten of this bloom. This is an attention getter in the garden. Slow to increase.

IMAGINE HEAVEN: Will have to get a better photo this year. Morning sun was not helpful.

    That is all from me.

My favorites today are Indominus Rex, Indy Shocker, and Debra's seedling. Debra, I hope it does well in Indy.

    Here are my I's.

I Dreamed a Dream is a small flower.

Idiot Savant is relatively new to the garden so I'm not sure how often it will show a pattern.

If It Only Had a Porsche is a great grower. We had to move ours so when we dug it, we had 11 double fans. It had been planted only about 3 years.

I love Impassioned. It's my favorite bitone. I don't think it is a fast increaser although it may have affected by the tree roots of the pine trees that were quite close.

Every time I post a photo on Facebook of Indiana Melissa, I get several people wanting to buy it. I am not sure yet how it will react to our climate. It was hybridized by Dan Hansen in Florida.

Isla Morada is another southern-bred daylilies that has just done ok here.

It Stops at Garage sales is another fabulous grower. It and If It Only Had a Porsche are both bred by Bret Clement in metro Indianapolis.

It's Glad Cows Don't Fly is another Clement daylilies that does really well here.

    That's all for me.

Sherry, I agree with others-your Itza Pink Teddy always looks good. David, Inca Puzzle caught my eye. Debra, the seedling is really pretty-hope it is prolific. Nancy, Indiana Melissa is a standout

Indian Giver has decided to explode in growth and blooms the past two years after barely hanging on for years

I’m A Pirate has been very slow to increase

Instant Celebration has few buds and blooms in the foliage

    It Plays in Peoria

    Inherited Wealth

It’s Miller Time-I really like this one

Isabelle Rose-fabulous plant. It reblooms several times

Sherry, Itza Pink Teddy is very pretty.

David, I always enjoy seeing Isle of Patmos. and Inca Puzzle is nice too.

Debra, I have that seedling does well, very pretty.

Nancy, Impassioned and Cows Don't Fly are both great colors.

Kate, my Indian Giver has been doing very well for several years now, also after not doing much for a couple of years prior. It is such a nice flower.

    Ice Carnival

Impetious Fire always blooms well and has good height.

    Impetuosity is kinda short.

In High Regard is just getting started. I really like it.

Sherry: Iddy Biddy Gal is a nice little double. I can see it fronting a garden path. You do place daylilies nicely in the landscape......David: Inca Puzzle is a pretty one......Debra: I too wish the best for your seedling. Did your Indian Ripple not make the move?........Nan: It's Glad Cows Don't Fly has a nice color..........Kate: It's Miller Time gets my vote.........I have one "I" that bloomed this year. A new one. I saw the name and had to have it. I was very pleased with it's first blooms. Every bloom was a nice rounded shape. It bloomed early so no trouble with our intense heat.

Thanks to all those who commented on the seedling! The first year it bloomed, it only had three or four buds. But I suspected grubs had gotten to the roots. So I was happy to see it with 13 buds last year. And it had really good rebloom last season, which was the season with the lowest rebloom in the garden in many years. With The Ultimate Sacrifice on both sides, it's survival may be iffy. Two hybridizers on NGA who live farther north than I do had all seedlings out of Ultimate Sac. die on them.

Maryl - I did not bring Indian Ripple because it's so cheap and readily available that replacing it would be easy. Where's your Indian Ripple? Your Itty Bitty Kitty is cute.

Brad - In High Regard is such a pretty lavender! I love the look of that one! Your Indian Giver seedlings are really nice.

Kate - Isabelle Rose is so pretty in your garden. I've had terrible luck with that one. First it died in a pot. Then Nancy from KY sent me a replacement. My lawn guy repeatedly mowed it down two years ago. I moved it to a place where I thought it would be safe, but once again mowers mowed it down. I'd like to try that one again someday. Maybe the third time will be the charm.

Nancy - I've thought about adding Idiot Savant. I'll wait and see if yours shows good patterns next season. Impassioned is one of yours I always admire.

Debra: re: Indian Ripple. I had to replace it last spring. Hopefully it will make it over this winter. Odd thing is that I bought it from two different sources last spring as the roots looked odd on the first one ( Short and curled upward). I bought it again from another source, and the roots still looked off. It did bloom but I didn't get a picture of it. I can't see being without it myself. It's unique...............Brad: I like your Indian Giver x seedling daylily very much. Good form. Of course the color wouldn't be like yours in my climate, but the form is right up my alley.................Maryl

Indian Giver is one here that is slow to recover after division. I suspect that it also didn't like the last two winter/springs. I don't have a pic from this year, but Brad's clump pic is more than ample. It obviously is a good breeder for him also.

Isabelle Rose is a stellar performer, but I didn't save a pic this year, mainly because I already have big clump pics.

Inca Puzzle is a short Petit here, barely blooming above the foliage and not abundantly. This wouldn't be the first time that a plant does better north of here.

In the Heart of It All is a reliable Salter. Hasn't rebloomed in recent years, but did so earlier.

Indy Long Legs is a diploid that is showy,,

Indian Ripple is one that shows well in pictures. It is fairly short here; appears larger than the registered 4.5".

Inscribed on My Heart is marginal here. It added a fan after a number of years; seemed to like the warm winter. A beautiful Emmerich (she acknowledges that it can be tender).

Ideological Worldview is a Hanson that makes a nice display at a plant height appealing to me (but not if you like them waist high).

Impassioned has been here a number of years, but this division was in a pot. Showy, but slow to increase and certainly didn't like the last two years.

Nice photos, Mantis. Ideological Worldview is my favorite of these. I also like Indian Ripple and Heart of it all.
