I can see the issue with the colors and the wood floors another color I think I would proably paint the wall to create a break between the ceiling and the floor then add some fab rugs on the floor to lessen the 2 shades of wood . That is a lot of wood for sure try the wall first if this is your forever home then prime then drywall over the wood then paint and maybe a nice pale grayed green from the FP stone for wall color The doors again another type of wood but maybe just a stripping and refinish of those will do the trick I would tend to choose light colored furniture too and the rugs too with not too dark . I aslo would want much better lighting so maybe check out cable light it bring the lighting down to where it is useful

That was what I had been thinking too, about the lower walls. I like the idea of the pale greenish gray wall. I love bright furniture, but I think I will save that for accessories. And yes we know the lighting is way too dim. I will be taking care of that too.
Anyway, really appreciate the feedback.

If you are going to paint those walls, make sure you use a good sealing bonding type primer first. One that will keep the knots from bleeding through your paint. Shellac based would be best.

Screw in 1/4" sheetrock the walls and paint off-white. We have a wood cabin and white is so much better than a color. Keep the wood ceiling.
