Well you can see maybe why I quickly thought they were the same. And even so why both can be "Ruby Snow"?

Yes, their descriptions are quite similar. Maybe someone is trying to tell you that you should try both of them? ;o)) Who knows? Maybe the 'patent lords' may grant a patent to one and deny a patent to the other one if they think the two shrubs are too similar.

Based on the cultivar names, they appear to be two different but similar plants from the same breeder. The plants were introduced by two different companies that are using very similar trademarked names. It is confusing, but stuff like this happens, just like a band that chooses a name only to discover someone else was already using it. My issue is that both names are unimaginative and forgettable. Many people hate the names Pinky Winky or Bobo, but you do not forget them.
