My living room has to be arranged small because theres a S-shaped tarffic flow pattern from the front door to the dining room area (and the rest of the house). Fixer Upper trained us to want to tear the load-bearing wall down (and add proper supports of course), while Covid made people realize privacy was important.

Which of the concepts looks more appealing? better resale value? what are the pros and cons of opening up vs making a wide archway right across the front door so the traffic flow is straight to the back of the house instead of an S?
