bathroom and laundry combo

Hi there, we are embarking on a full renovation of our 1980s brick house. currently, many of the spaces are small and pokey.

We currently have neighbouring bathroom and laundry rooms both with external doors, but would like to explore merging the 2 rooms, eliminate one of the external doors and make the space more functional for our family (2 adults and 2 pre-teen sons). The house also has 2 other bathrooms, however this one is near the downstairs living area (other bathrooms are upstairs) so we feel a toilet and shower are required. Also, I like the idea of having an external door as it allows access clothes line and given our house is near the beach, it allows for direct access to shower, avoiding sandy footprints throughout the entire house.

for reference both rooms are about 2m wide x 3m long (making the total space approx 3m x 4m)

So much chopped up space , thta study no way could be a bedroom so whay have a bathroom there make that one accessible to the rest of the house thta would give you a nice PR no shwer needed and then a nice sized laundry room no bathroom at the other but maybe a bit of pantry space . I cannot see the whole floor plan so maybe show that but honestly a small house with too many bathrooms on the main floor with no bedrooms so no shower needed

You say you want it to be more functional, but it sounds like both rooms are functional. One allows an outdoor entrance directly into the shower to wash off sand, the second allows you direct outdoor access for hanging clothes.

I wouldn't think that you would want a combined laundry, bath and pantry.

We can't see the entire living floor, and loathe to admit this is a USA lazy site of imperial dimensions, so please use feet and inches.

You need to note the dimensions for every wall and window and passage.......

This home is in Australia. The space doesn't currently work as it is very pokey and tight. Lots of rooms that are not comfortable to work in. We are hoping something a bit more open plan and spacious but utilising the same footprint.

Thankyou Patricia. love the suggestion of adding a powder room where the study is and opening the current bathroom/laundry into one big space allowing for a big pantry. i think this could work really well for us.
