At $400 I guess it wasn’t designed by Thomas Jefferson, but it is cool enough to have been.

I found a long (well over 8 ft ) bench at Scott’s antique market in Atlanta about ten years ago, circa 1870 Swedish, almost original condition (unrepaired but repainted) and paid about $800 for it. I could not believe my luck!

I cleaned it and had a cushion made for it and it went into a gigantic bathroom in our lower level during our remodel

and it now resides in our current basement family room. Those very long antique benches can be awkward unless you have the exact right place for them; they‘re too low for modern tables.

I've never seen a bench like those One of my favorites I've come across, but did not purchase, was a mammy's bench rocker.

I wish I had a place inside for my wooden bench. It's been used on the front veranda, then foyer of our last house. Now it's on the screened porch.

We had a bench very similar in style and color/finish, but much shorter, for most of my childhood. I think my mom finally got rid of it because it was very wobbly. She collected many early American pieces back in the 50s/early 60s and they were destroyed by the hurricane Helene storm surge 😞
