Best mid-grade cabinets?

Refreshing our basement this year, and our cabinetry is literally falling apart. So we need to swap out for new stuff. We have redone two kitchens in the past (Thank you, Gardenweb friends!). The second time, we used beautiful custom cabinetry by a local cabinetmaker. Too expensive for the basement. The first time, we used Lowe's Schuler cabinetry, and it was awesome! But that was in 2012. Who knows how the quality or hardware has fared since then? More than 10 years later...which cabinet brands are good quality, sturdy, have some fun colors or finishes, that you would recommend for a basement remodel? Thank you so much!

Yes, but I heard their hinges stink and don't stand up very well. I would have to price out new/better hinges and see if it's still cost effective.

I've used Ikea several times and only had an issue once after 5 years with a lazy susan and it was replaced free of charge although there had been a price increase on that item. They have about 20 door front models/finishes.

Their mechanicals are one of their best assets. They all have integrated soft close in the hinges and drawers unless you buy the absolute base collection. I think you should consider them.

KraftMaid and Medallion (aka Schuler) are both great midgrade cabinets....known as "Semi-Custom". Just think GM and FORD.

The Kitchen Place, is Schuler as good as it used to be? If so, I'll just go with them, since I loved my first kitchen renovation. The cabinets are hinges were great, and the finish held up beautifully (better than my custom, hand sprayed cabinets).

Schuler and Medallion are the SAME. So consider getting a second estimate from a Medallion dealer, NOT a box store. Ask about sales promotions....Medallion runs sales several times a year.

Also consider their SILVERLINE SERIES (They have silver, gold and platinum). All used the same finishing equipment at the factory.....so go with SILVER to keep costs down. My front display is Silverline and it looks amazing. Consider the Jackson door....it's less $ than the shaker style called Lancaster.

If you go with Silver, make sure the upgrade the exposed ends to have Wood End Upgrades.

We just did IKEA in our basement and it was great. Their lighting options are also fantastic.
