What are you thinking? Removing the wall between kitchen and dining room?

I would also want to find out what is in the black box around the refrigerator. It could be usable space or full of utilities/hvac stuff.

A contractor will have to see which walls are structural.

Although that was my first thought to open up the wall between the dining and kitchen , I don’t think that’s ideal because the dining room is just off the home entrance

The kitchen probably feels cramped because it is a dead end with a diagonal refrigerator and pantry hogging so much space. You probably don’t use the dining room as a result. You need another walkway.
