help me make this more aesthetically pleasing!!!

Long story short this will be the kitchen in our shop house! We will live here while we build. Therefore it is temporary but I still would like to be proud of it! I know the main placements can’t change at this stage but what else can I do. I need seating at the island for sure but Box in the island?? Vent hood?? Open to all suggestions. Thank you!

I would not want seating where you have the overhang. The only way I could see to change it would to be make a return for a peninsula on the right cabinet run and eliminate the island or shrink it and put the seating on that peninsula. Looks like you have plenty of counter space without it, especially if adding an eating bar.

That sounds like such a fun project! Even though it’s temporary, small changes can make a big difference. For seating, maybe a sleek waterfall edge on the island? A bold vent hood could also bring some character—brass or matte black always looks great.

theres a little corner over on the left...get a small trolley or cart and set your coffee or kettle on the counter and set up your accesories for coffe/tea /hot coca/ snacks and fruit in baskets etc. At the non stove end of island a couple stools wont be in the way of work triangle... maybe 2 . . then just prop up wood cutting boards a few canisters on the main counter area. Why would you do more? these things can be repurposed.

Not sure what's wrong with it? and it's a rendering - so it's not going to translate the right feel in the monochromatic look...

Keep it simple, clean and add some color / accessories.

What is your budget for making changes? I think a nice vent hood would be a great idea. There are so many interesting vent hoods - it would provide a nice focal point in the kitchen.

It's unfortunate that the overhang on your island is right along a walkway through the kitchen - it makes it difficult to have seating there.

How wide is the aisle between the refrigerator and the island? If you need to have seating there, I would purchase small counter stools that easily tuck all the way underneath the overhang. That way you can use the stools when needed + have them completely tucked away when they aren't being used for seating.

You could also add some color with backsplash tile.
