You do not need to use an appliance pull on a paneled dishwasher. The pull on my dishwasher is cabinet pull. It is longer than standard cabinet pulls but I used longer pulls on all cabinet doors and drawers. The pulls on my upper cabinets are 10" long. The pull on my dishwasher is approximately 13". I'm sure I could have used one shorter than that but I used that length and even longer ones my drawers. This pull has been on my dishwasher for more than 12 years without any issues.

I also used a "regular" handle. Mine is 128mm long (screw to screw) by Jefferey Alexander/Hardware Resources. It's the Belcastel series in Polished Nickel.

My kitchen is now 12 years old as well...and it's functioned perfectly fine.

My panel ready ASKO dishwasher is just to the right of my sink. I made the panel to look like a B24Butt cabinet...so it has a fake top drawer and two butt doors below.

My miele paneled dishwasher has a regular cabinet pull as well. Its about 6” center to center. It has been installed for 9 1/2 years - no issues.

Also used a regular pull on my paneled Miele DW. I think mine is 8" or 9" long.
