My 3 year old Roomba (600 series) still runs for over 90 minutes on a charge. Is yours a Roomba brand or something else?

I had a robotic vacuum years ago. Note the word had. It left scuff marks on my furniture. Maybe more recent versions have non-scuffing bumpers or better technology where the unit doesn't bump into things and then turn itself around IDK.

When you replaced the battery was it with a Roomba battery or a generic brand? My DD and I were having this discussion last night as she is the proud owner of a handme down roomba and a refurbished one. She feels that the older Roomba picks up dirt/particles better than the newer one which does good with dust.

The older one needs a new battery and she is popping for a Roomba brand one as she didn't feel the knock off battery lasted very long.

Not sure if any of this helps your situation. My battery lasts well over an hour as well. DOes your new battery last that long?

I’ve had a Eufy for a couple of years, and find it cleans my area rugs and LVP well enough. It runs daily to keep the cat hair under control. I am always amazed at the volume it picks up. The battery lasts about 90 mins before returning to base for a recharge. It does have rubber bumpers and I’ve not found scuff marks on any walls or furniture. My model is currently $149 on the big A.

@RNmomof2 zone 5 i did replace it with roomba battery. the most i seem to get out of it is around 30 minutes. this roomba is the first model so it's 20+ years old so i'm thinking there are parts that are simply worn out and it's time for a new one.

i've been reading the recommendations and i haven't yet found one that is touted to be good on high-pile carpet which is what most of my house has. i'll keep looking.

How old is the battery that you have? Did it ever run more than 20 minutes? I wonder if you got a bum battery? Do you have someone that can check it? DD does have a frieze carpet that she thinks the old Roomba does well on.

Influencers all love the Eufy and they have a low price point.

@RNmomof2 zone 5 this battery is only a couple of months old. i suppose it could be defective but since it's the name brand (roomba), that would seem unlikely.

I would try reaching out to them and see what they say. I would expect a new battery to last longer than 20 minutes

We tried two roombas and neither did their jobs. The Eufy has been just great!

I have two Roombas - they were both purchased at Costco about four years ago. They are the models that "self empty" - which allows them to run longer because I don"t have to empty it when it's full - it just empties itself and goes back to vacuuming.

I decided to purchase them from Costco just in case there was an issue with them after awhile.

I have two dogs - however, they are non-shedding (I have to give them haircuts) - so, I don't know how well they do for people who have a lot of dog hair.

If you aren’t satisfied with a robot vac, have you thought about a cordless? I love my Dyson. The suction can’t be beat and i hardly ever get the big Shark out anymore. The Spruce just posted a review of cordless and I think they rated an LG very highly. If you’re interested I’ll dig it up.

We just bought a roborock Q7 max and ran it for the first time last night. I am super impressed with its mapping ability, along with the ability to exclude spaces and divide spaces in the app. If you pick it up and move it, it can actually figure out where it is in your house. It also keeps track of where its been so you can see its progress. Super cool. We also have a roomba and have been unimpressed with its abilities (similar price point to the roborock but fewer features - particularly no mapping), so we moved that to the basement where we have mostly carpet and fewer obstacles, and are using the roborock on the main level. We have hardwood and dogs (who, now that snow is melting, are coming in with muddy paws), so we were excited about the mopping capability.

Our roborock's initial run lasted about 60 minutes and covered our kitchen, dining, hallway and office spaces. It still had about 60% battery remaining when it was done. Our living room has a plush rug that these robovacs can't handle - which is fine. I'm more excited about the performance on hard wood.

still doing lots of reading but this one looks like it would do what i need.

@OutsidePlaying i'm staying away from anything that i would have to push/pull because just the motion of using something like this dyson really makes my back hurt.

thanks for your reply! what i actually ended up doing was putting a new battery in the original old roomba and then getting all replacement brushes for it. it's working much better so i'm holding off buying a new one. i also started having acupuncture for my back/muscle pain which has been a total game changer for me!! i run the roomba every couple of days but i'm now also able to use my upright vacuum a couple of times a week which is keeping things under control. :)

after going through a year of numerous steroid and botox injections trying to get relief, i finally bit the bullet and decided i didn't have anything to lose trying acupuncture. had i known how much it would help, i would have done it a year ago when all of this started!

fine a licensed, proven provider and go for it. it's truly been lifesaving for me!

i had been so miserable with pain and after a year of getting nowhere, i finally begged for narcotic pain relief which i was loathe to take but i was desperate. i was prescribed hydrocodone which gave me some relief although i took the bare minimum amount.

i went to my first acupuncture appointment 8 months ago. i went 3x/week for a couple of weeks which was intense because it's an hour away. i got major relief with the very first appointment and have not taken a pain pill since. i have gradually reduced my visits to once every 4-5 weeks and eventually hope to space them out even further. i will definitely keep going for the foreseeable future, on a maintenance schedule, because it has been so beneficial!

as for cost, i pay $92/visit and it's worth every penny. medicare doesn't cover it, nor does my supplemental insurance but it's doable for me, thankfully!
