EDIT to add this is a family room at a beach house with water view. Here is a clearer layout. Large open plan. The only other option is to place the TV on the opposite wall. Well the entire point of the home beautiful view. So above the fireplace or somehow to the wall to the right. A small wall of about 4ft wide. Ceilings are 12 ft.

I would have a surround made. Research beach fireplaces for inspiration.

I know that you stated that you wanted something simple - however, do you want something that looks coastal? Transitional? Modern? Need a bit of direction re: what the style of your furniture for the room is (maybe photos of the furniture that will be used in the room - unless you are purchasing all new furnishings for the room).

There are many ways to interpret "simple" - just need some direction!

A smaller TV would be a good start and you could then have a Frame TV in proportion to the fireplace and a nice piece of art when the TV is off.

Here are two ideas: one with light brick w/ dark wood mantle and another idea image is simple, but more sophisticated look.

Is that a wood burning or gas fireplace? If it is most municipalitys require a non combustable hearth. If electric you don't need one.
