We had snow today again, hopefully last for the season. My winter aconitum is finally up and blooming. Looking forward to scilla, fritillaries, primulas, pushkinia and others.

I love small bulbs show in the garden, can't wait till they fill up the garden.

Winter Aconite blooming here too. We've had a taste of spring for a couple days and then snow and cold again yesterday, I'm ready to start digging in the dirt!

Nicholworth, are your hellebores allowed to self seed, I see different coloring on some? I did a bit of seed growing in the past. It is loong process , needs double stratification, I used to get to get seeds from New Zealand as they due to opposite season get stratified and then sent here. But it was before 9/11 .

Old_dirt, love your pic! Do you do other small bulbs too? I think spring can be so more interesting with them.

lindalana - Thank you, I don't have much more early spring color. I'v tried crocus & tulips but the deer mow them down every year. Grape hyacinth comes up every year in the yard but I've never planted it. Lots of daffodills.

lindalana..yes my hellebores self sow like mad!..grass won't grow here so I welcome plants everywhere (other than the paths)..see the seedlings?..
