Landscaping ideas

Hello please advise on what to do with this space. It's the back of the house. Would like to plant something. It's a bit shady here. We are in north PA. We already built a small retaining wall. Any other ideas?

    I'd do native ferns, too. If your soil is acidic, you can do lowbush blueberry, too. I have tiarella (the spreading kind, not clumping) and goatsbeard, as well as heartleaf aster. They will do well in dryish shade and bloom. The tiarella in spring (it won't be taller than your ferns, but the rest will), goatsbeard in summer and the aster in the fall. The goatsbeard and asters self-seed.
