Sadly, painting isn’t an option right now. I wish it was!! We use the space mainly for reading and lounging.

Keep the mirror. You can use it over an accent piece. Lose the wreath and any faux plant.

Until you can really update by removing the carpet and replacing it with hardwood floors then painting, I would just a large canvas to replace the mirror and wreath and a few more colorful pillows.

Use the wood color of your bookcase in more areas of this living room.

Remove the wreath. I might not mind the mirror if it were closer in color to the bookshelves. Get a wood planter for the snake plant.

Add a small area rug - both sofa feet on one edge of it. Add a small coffee table for the sofa.

Remove the pillows that are the same color as the sofa and replace with leather and blue velvet.

Do you actually use the arm chairs? They look more decorative than functional. If you don't ever use both at the same time, I'd remove the one nearest to the piano and remove the little end table.

I would flip the locations of the chairs and the sofa unless that large window offers a great view and you usually sit on the sofa.
