I didn’t order Fur Elise, as tempting as it was! I can’t wait to see your pictures later in the season.

I got mine yesterday! Put ’em right in the bucket to soak and we planted them today. One Bordeaux Citiscape and two Sunmaids. They look great.

Well, I just got some roses from Grace Rose Farm, and they told me I can cure the gall disease on them with Lysol. Pretty soon, my roses will look better than Palatine’s!

I ordered 9, now wishing I’d ordered about 5 more. Nippstress, how many did you order and did you wish you’d ordered more?

I missed out on a bunch of my top choices as I was in a meeting during opening time, but stlll managed to buy 8 lol. Rachel is a gem and added to my order twice, once when Fur Elise popped back on and I snagged it, and again when the 1.5 grade roses were offered. I ended up with Fur Elise, Pompon Veranda, Rosemantic Cream, Rosemantic Pink, Kosmos Fairy Tale. When the grade 1.5's came out, I scored Amour de Molene, Dark Desire, and Meine Rose. Some of my top picks that I didn't get were The Pride, Gruaud Larose, La Fontaine Aux Perles, Anastasia, Adorable Parfuma, Anastasia, Charles de Gaulle, Forever Rose, Sunrise Parfuma, and climbing Souvenir de la Malmaison. If anybody knows where to get these, please DON'T tell me, I already bought way too much. *shhhh tell me*

Kentucky_rose - you mean I have to ADMIT how many roses I bought from Palatine? Welllll, remember that I'm still rebuilding my garden from losing everything to RRD. I planted a TON of roses last spring but there are still notable holes that are begging for a rose, and well, I can't resist roses begging...

I'll give you a hint - I bought as many roses as the temperature Saturday when I was potting them up. It was very windy and bitterly cold - I kept having to stop and warm up my hands in my armpits as I was planting. No, it wasn't below freezing, so it's already a large number. Took me all afternoon - maybe 6 hours - to get them potted up. I can't plant till the bulbs are done in a couple of weeks and the roses do better with some time to adjust with unlimited access to water in the shade.

OK, I'll admit - I bought 49 roses from Palatine. Some of the Schmitz roses that Palatine breeds are among my favorite low-care shrubs - Pretty Dancer, Miss Pretty, Forever Rose (massive bush with massive pink blooms), Dream Land (amazing tip hardy climber with breathtaking pink blooms) - so I justified those purchases right away. Out of 17 Schmitz roses on HMF, I now have 11 (and I'd ordered New Beginnings but it didn't thrive). Many of the rest were roses only Palatine sells so that justifies the rest. I still missed out on several of the ones SD shine mentions like Gruaud Larose and Amour de Molene and Sunrise Parfuma, but hopefully they'll show up somewhere else. Yes, of course I wish I'd been able to order more, but I ordered all the ones I wanted that were available because this was the last time.

    Sheepishly yours,

    Cynthia

Nippstress, I have to say,” well done.” Literally, it was now or never to get those beloved bareroots from Palatine! I can’t wait to see the pictures you will be posting.
