I don't use either anymore. I decided that letting the birds eat the slugs is best. Of course, I don't have a pristine garden, but I do have lots of happy birds and happy insects-many more than my neighbors. I know this doesn't help you, but maybe you will save some money. :-)

Unless you have a flock of ducks or geese roaming the garden, baiting for slugs and snails is an absolute requirement to have any sort of a productive garden in the PNW. This is the slug/snail capital of the universe!!

I have always used Sluggo and it has worked great for me.

I read an AI blurb that said the IronFist was a bit more toxic to animals. I don't trust AI as it said you should put glue on pizza, but I went with Sluggo. It really does work and my cat loves it. :o)

I live in southeastern MA and have actually hand picked 1000 snails and slugs in one weekend. And i have tons of birds. Have always used Sluggo.

I use Sluggo or the Garden Safe stuff -- they're both the same IME, but I'm (fortunately) not over-run by slugs like some of you guys. The Garden Safe is less expensive but I don't like that it comes in a bag rather than a jug so I transfer it to an old Sluggo container I have.

I have had anecdotal experience of being overrun by slugs one year. After doing soil test I realized that phosphate was low. Aka Calcium was high and was tying up other elements from being available. After correcting this I simply applied triple super phosphate near strategically placed hiding spots for slugs and have arrived to manageable level of slugs next year. I too have use Garden Safe and do not know if there is specific difference in Sluggo and Ironfist.

A word of caution.........due to their high pollutability, phosphate fertilizers are restricted in several states. No triple phosphate allowed in WA state.
