last month

Hello, we need to decide on an exterior color for our home. We’re only allowed to use the charleston his historical colors.
Thinking on painting it light, like almost white or keeping the current color Evergreen Fog
Help please!

Your house visually has a lot going on what with different size and shape windows, gables, etc, there is not really a name for its style....the one constant is the white windows and trim. I think if you paint all the siding the white of the trim it will help meld all the disparate shapes.

I like it as it is not sure what style it is but the only thing I would change is I would remove any shutters and add some color to the landcaping

Thank you so much. I’m not sure of the style name either. This is a low country neighborhood in the south with very strict codes, only Charleston historical colors allowed and all homes have the “Charleston feel”
My front door is black, I am not 100% sure they’re gonna let me paint the trim on walls the same white so I might have to pick two different shades….
Anyone has a visualizer ? I’ve tried to use the one from Sherman Williams, but I didn’t work.

Good advice already - I would at least paint all the vertical trim the same as the body (ask forgiveness not permission)

I just found these home online that looks just like mine. I think I am gonna go white.

    Another vote for white.

BM Nantucket Gray is also a nice color for exterior siding. It looks light green outside and not gray. Trim in a warmer off-white.

My ARB won allow all white homes… the trim needs to be a contrasting color.😩 so… I am back at square one… what color should I paint the house?

Wait. Can you do a White House with pale gray trim? Would that be allowed?

These are both the Nantucket Gray chispa suggested. Looks nice but hard to judge from online pix.

Thanks @la_la Girl! I painted the exterior of our first house in BM Nantucket Gray with BM Moonlight White trim and a red door. The house was bight blue when we bought it! That was 25 years ago, but it is a classic/timeless exterior house color.

Not too sure you should go all white..you have that lower portion of the house in what looks like acrocrete or stucco siding which is a pretty large area. Its def not the constrasting brick like in the 2 photos with the wood stairs instead of brick like yours. You could do a brick siding on the bottom part but it still might look like too much with the brick stairs and trim you have. You also only have one window with shutters so there really isnt that much contrast to the trim on the opposite side besides the front door, which you will obviously want to keep a contrast color. Its a real pickle.

You might consider putting full length shutters next to french doors like in the second photo you have. Their windows are tall full length and the shutters tie it all together for that Charleston look. Keep pillars white because your window frames, soffit, and fascia boards are white. If you want a little more color you can paint the lanai ceiling a light soft blue color.

Your home is lovely, but feels heavy. Have you driven around and seen combinations you like? Next step is to get tester pots and paint large swatches next to each other outside, to help decide on where: home, trim and door. It’s a huge commitment and the more you prepare upfront, the better.

I had saved the same picture as you and like the cream/white/black.

Here are other combos that go well with each other. Good luck!

Love those colors, do you happen to have the codes/names?

I think your home is lovely with the Evergreen Fog paint color.

It looks like the pictures were taken in the evening when the sun was starting to set behind the house. The bushes look almost as dark as the car.

Darker homes are more on trend than the farmhouse white that took over so many neighborhoods in the past few years.

I would keep the green, but warm up the white so it doesn't appear so stark in comparison to the green.

If your home is shaded and the Evergreen Fog is feeling too dark for your liking you may want to explore just bumping the color a bit lighter like Escape Gray or Austere Gray.

May be off-white to make white trim pop-up?

Thank you so much this was very helpful. I tried visual slicers online, but they didn’t do a great job. This is perfect.

My color is very much like evergreen fog, that’s one of the colors I work considering.

The colors were not provided, but the BM store consultant could guide you and when narrowed down to color families, test a few shades. Suggest a combo of three for house/trim/door.
