While we wait for experts, in my opinion, they are the right size for that space.

Since you don’t need privacy, i would leave them as is. But, hopefully others will help with choices.

My question though is why wasn’t the trim for the cabinets measured to go up to the ceiling? Why leave such a small space there?

Our kitchen was done in 2006, and now we’re just switching out countertops & backsplash, but also they would have run into the can lights.
