The ladder was designed by my father. It is mounted to a custom fabricated hinge/pivot point. This specific ladder has a war of 1812 cannonball as a counterweight. The counterweight location is adjustable to fine tune in the field. Once perfectly balanced, the counterweight keeps the ladder in the up or down position and makes it nearly effortless to operate.
