AI generated foyer - thoughts?

Hi. What do you think? Wow - new to this and gave it specifics of furniture I had, function and wanted and to continue to improve it. This is what it generated. Some pieces of furniture look exact, some clearly aren’t. I had a round table - but not that one. A chair that looks like that - but not that one. It continued to tweak it - add a throw pillow or throw based on colors I liked. And to fix my worn wood floor! Rude. 🤣Any thoughts about the layout?

Like @KW PNW Z8 said, it’s a bit crowded for my taste. And the mirror is oddly placed.

It does have a cozy charm! I’m just not sure about the chair there unless you actually use it, maybe consider a small bench with an art piece above it instead of the mirror? I feel like the mirror might work better paired with a small console table, unless you already have one near the entry.

It’s a great start though, and fun seeing how AI interpreted your space and furniture!

Overall i like it and find it charming but i think it’s a little heavy on ” wood” I would like to see it broken up maybe with more fabric or a lighter rug.

Thank you for the feedback. I agree with you all. As a maximalist, I’m going to convince myself it’s “cozy”. 😬. This was one of those times when you see what you love and find a place for it later. The only place it does work is there - and very functional - a place for mail, keys, etc. The mirror will be changed - a lil too formal. And I will try to look at lighter rugs and less “woody” - AI suggested a pop of yellow - pillow and/or throw. Thanks for the feedback. New to the AI world - and constantly shocked and what it can do!

Is the tall secretary desk the piece you love & are finding a place for? I do understand that concept having done it myself! The desk looks interesting - would you share a front view of it? That’s a very pretty hallway too - love the arches. I’m guessing the door in pic isn’t front entry door. Can we see the opposite end of foyer? That’s a different perspective & the ’cozy’ feel might look more open at the other end. I’m wondering if there’s room to have the desk surface open so it’s easy to drop keys & mail onto a flat surface. That would be perfect blend of form & function!

Yes @KW. That’s the piece I fell in love with - a mid-late 19th century hutch from Quebec. The top lifts but doesn’t fold down. Here’s a photo of the opposite side - the cabinet JUST fits on the wall to the right (when facing the front door) but covers the light switch (hubs won’t go for that impracticality). 🥹Then I’d struggle to put something of similar “weight” on the left.

I did have the cabinet on the wall where AI put the mirror, and hung a carpet on a hanger to the left - just those two pieces. The cabinet took up the whole wall and with just one more piece of furniture - chair or table - I was concerned it was unquestionably too crowded. And I do want a chair.

Wow - you have quite the gorgeous home! That teardrop shape hanging light is just wow! I had been admiring the one by the desk too. Are they both original to home or just period correct? I do see hubs point about the light switch & it looks like a heat vent at floor too. The chair & table & lamp are pretty together. The mirror is pretty too & blends well with hanging lights. I wonder though if you swapped the mirror for a smaller framed art if the ’weight’ of all the pieces will feel like there’s more breathing space. That mirror might be just the piece closer to front door on the wall you wanted to put the hutch against. A nice counterpoint to the hanging light.

Ugh. Draft post disappeared. Thanks KW! The lights are original to the home and yes, the house does have beautiful bones. I thought about your idea to switch the AI mirror with another piece of framed art but keep going back to switching to a better mirror. I’m stuck on the mirror because of the reflection when the front door is open - faces south so we gets lots of light - and a forest, so I’ve fallen in love with that reflection when the door is open. (Bad feng shui though??) I can try several options though! Thanks again!!

Keep forgetting the AI part of your inspo pic. The pieces you have vs the pieces AI ’gave’ you! A mirror should reflect something of interest & sounds like the one over the chair does just that. So, maybe AI is right - that spot needs a mirror not art!
