What is the purpose of this closet? Where is the closet on the house? How does it relate to the overall floor plan?

put the shelves and rod on the same wall so you can walk in to access each.

Master bedroom. If I put rod and shelving on the long wall, i will have to turn sideways anf stay thin to fit. If i use the back wall, its not a lot of space at all.

Find space saving hangers that allow clothes facing out. Hang the rod high so they don't drag on the floor. A tall shoe organizer on the short wall and/or behind the door.

Call The Container Store and talk to one of their closet "designers". They will do a free design and quote. I used their ELFA system in my closets and pantry.
