Not trying to be a smart@ss, but are these just regular pictures without any type of filter or color adjustment?? I'd paint the walls a nice white/off white color color and paint the cabinets anything but grey. Great space though. Or at least start with the cabinets and then see how the walls look from there.

Certainly agree with you on the color. Paint is a cheap solution and off white sounds great.

The floors may look less gray when you get everything repainted. Area rugs are helpful too.

Gosh I always wonder who picks out these floors and why people think the floor should be a focal point. Definitely go with white paint and large area rugs

Thank you. I dont think filters on pictures but theyre from the real estate listing so cant say for sure. I also feel white walls will help tone down the gray. Its the cheapest thing to change.

Id leave cabinets from the factory/ brand new ....alone. You have a dining room/ kitchen eating area plus bar stools to bring into the mix...then the living room furnishings..maybe some window treatments/ things on the walls...etc. Kitchen is tuckd away from the living zone a bit...but the table/chairs and bar stools will be directly in the line of vision. If you have to purchase furnishings you'll get free design help at a furniture store if you plan to go that route. there is nothing to alter here because you have quite a bit to bring in to make this your living situation.

Congratulations on your new home! I agree with @herbflavor that once you get your furnishings in there it will feel more homey and warm.

I'd recommend getting hardware for your cabinets. In my experience, the finish wears faster if people have to pull on the doors instead of pulls or knobs. (How do you open the drawers?)

You could also consider swapping out the pendants for something with less glare, like white shades or something that's not clear glass.

Ditto what @herbflavor said. Leave the brand spanking new cabs alone!! A good & professional paint job on cabs isn’t cheap. If you can spare the $$ to do a quality job on doing that, you can also replace flooring you don’t like! And, I wouldn’t do that either! You have a neutral backgound here that will accept most any colors you bring in. Do that before anything else. Art on walls, area rugs on floors, color on countertops & wow! It’s your personality. Many of those grey/gray/greige homes have the same color furnishings so they do look like a study in neutrals. I think any wall color discussion has to be accompanied by a peek at your rugs & furniture colors.

ETA - this is a new build house & from the view through the window it looks like you’ll be needing landscape too. Concentrate on doing that first since this is the season to enjoy being outside & buying patio furniture!

Thanks guys, you’ve walked me off the ledge a bit. All the gray was making me nervous but I won’t stress it until its furnished. If it still doesnt sit right, I’ll consider painting the walls for now. I also hadn’t considered how difficult it is to repaint cabinets to get a factory finish.

@chicagoans suggestion of hardware / handles for cabs & changing out lighting is great. New island pendants & dining light is a great way to make a big change for not too much $$. Adding handles to cabs Is pretty easy if you also get a template tool that makes drilling the holes for screws pretty easy.

I agree with those that are saying, leave it alone, and get your furnishings in there, and your accessories, and some color. It will totally change the appearance. I do like the cabinet color a lot, I would not be painting them. Put your personality in there. Dont be afraid to add your favorite colors.

The very first (ok third but I’ll get to that) thing I would have to do is paint the cabinets. Youve already said you dislike Grey. They are bleak. First hire a woodworker to build sides for the fridge and bring the cabinet above forward. Then paint the walls and the cabinets. The floors are probably fine.

I would change cabinet and wall colors.

Paint the walls a creamy white or pale sand color for sure, and get some warm toned rugs down. Pale neutral walls with a faint tinge of orange look really good with gray fixed elements and warm up the overall look. Happy color and natural fiber blinds, brown wood items, and things of that sort will bring the rest of the life you need to the gray kitchen. I redid my mom's gray floor house with Behr Coco Malt on the walls and loved it. The kitchen is the elephant in the room. ;-) Your furnishings will help, as will more decor and wall paint.

I would absoutely change the HW to black - you'll zero in on the HW and the cabinet color will recess. Also agree on building out the fridge with side panels and pull the upper cabinet forward. Decide on some color to pull it all together and smile until the cabs need to be replaced.
