Rescuing our Rose vines…

last year
last modified: last year

We really need some advice.

Last Spring we planted 5 rose vines on a newly installed arbor, to the side of our house. They were delivered as root balls. Only two are growing, and it appears 3 are completely dead.

This afternoon we discovered our next door neighbor’s gardener spraying weed killer on their side gravel. It was windy and he was going crazy spraying everywhere. I’m concerned he's sprayed our two good vines with this poison.

Is there anything we can do? Or is it too late?

The neighbors are tenants. They don’t care about landscaping. They just call out this gardener occasionally to tidy up. It’s a quick bread & butter service. I hardly see him, so was shocked to see him there today, spraying next to our vines, which are right up to the property line.

Would our vines also be affected by the soil on their side, if the herbicide gets into the roots through the soil? How much space is needed if spraying?

So upset. And to top it off, our gardener had come by this morning to tidy up for us, plus a window cleaner. Afterwards our neighbor’s gardener used his blower to blow a large fog of dirt and leaves over the wall and into our yard, across our side yard and into our newly cleaned windows. Not a good day. 😩
