I like solar shades for heat and control and daytime privacy burt nightime privacy needs drapes too . I sure would hate to have a huge expanse of view during the day covered with blackout drapes ever . The bonus with solar shades is the ability to keep the view .

They can be made to open from the center or from the side, depending on the type of slider or multi-slider that you have.

We had white patterned semi-sheer (think linen) curtains on rings with pinchers. It filtered the light enough without feeling too dark during the day and provided enough privacy.
