I've long thought it a shame that this rose is no longer available. One of Austin's most beautiful creations.

Apparently, it IS available -- here and there. But you'd have to check each grower, to ask.

The huge stamens are half of the story and for that reason alone one would think ........but it's by no means the only beautiful rose that's been ditched.

That is sadly true. Some survive, forgotten, to become Found Roses.

Well, no. It does fade in very hot weather. I don't know any roses that don't, to some extent.

I have attempted to contact Reverence For Roses, to enquire about 'Belle Story', and they do not reply.

I see they have Old Town Novato and a good selection of old roses that seems to be geared toward warmer climates. Also Annie Laurie Mc Dowell!

You can also go on the wait list at Rogue Valley Roses, but that's always rather iffy.

Not to hijack the thread, but I always want to put in a word for another unjustly forgotten midcentury rose 'Ivory Fashion' (1958) -- a white semi-double with a strong fragrance of cloves, beautiful reddish stamens, and lasting in a vase. It was the recipient of awards and always highly rated. I think it must have been overshadowed by 'Iceberg' maybe (a blooming machine). I love seeing these old roses offered. I miss Vintage, too.

It’s really sad that so many wonderful roses are waning in availability or lost for newer gardeners to experience.

It is wonderful small nurseries are keeping them alive. Rosepetals, RVRs, Peter Schneider, Wiscroses, and now ARFR are doing great work here.
