Just for clarification, is the concrete under the tile mosaic all one piece, like a poured sidewalk? Or is it concrete squares or stepping “stones”? If you can do it, my suggestion would be to remove all of the concrete, too, so that you can put a larger, more ample porch with steps and start over with the walkway leading from those steps further away from the house. You could then use decorative stamped concrete stepping stones leading up to your new stairs. (The mosaic is kind of neat “archeological” find 😉).

Thank you! That's a great idea! Yes the concrete is under the mosaic tile. I love the idea of moving the walkway further from the house, that looks much better. The tiles were definitely a very interesting find, and unexpected!

if the broken pieces aren't set in concrete, I would gather them all up and regrade the area.

Start fresh, then create a patio or area with the decorative pieces.

I would build steps rather than install precast.

I would guess you want to have the top of the landing level with the indoor floor so no trip hazzard, and much larger landing for room to open door, etc.

Is this your only patio / outdoor space or just a walkway to the front door?

I think that's a good idea because you're right, we want to have the top landing level so that there's no trip hazard and room for the open door! This is just the walkway to the front door, we have outdoor space in the backyard. We don't sit or spend much time in the front

I like the idea that @lisedv shared above. Would also consider adding a small porch deck that is level with the threshold, kind of like the example below. Salvage the mosaics if you want to blend in with the updated walkway.

Sorry dig up all of that mess and honestly those tiles are a mess of broken oieces and how do those colors work at all with your home . A nice new wlkway to go with your home not some yuck uncovered obviously not saved. I have no idea what you mean by concrete under the tile so is the tile adhered to the concrete somehow ? As for where to do the walkway I would need much better pics of the whole area in front of the house including the front driveway and sidewalk

It may not be code to have the landing level with the threshhold. It isn't here.

As suggested by @bearbev, building a small porch is a great idea...
