Personally, I would take the opportunity before I painted, to raise the light/electrical box and get a taller mirror that would be more proportional to the ceiling height.

My ceilings are high and most of my bathroom mirrors are 48" high or taller.

Seeing as you’re painting anyway, I would suggest removing that 4” sidepiece splash for a more up to date look.

Thank you. The picture helps. A question…with the lights moved significantly higher up, will i still get good lighting for makeup etc? it’s the primary lighting in the room.

With 4 lights above the mirror it won't be a problem, the light will also reflect in the mirror. No matter the height of the vanity lights, it would be good to have another source of light in the room if it's a large room but we cannot see that in you photo.
