Hosta growing in pots

It has been quiet here, thought a few new photos would be good. Add your hosta growing in pots if you wish. I only have 8 now…..in a corner of my patio late in the day.

Why not a couple more….a corner in a front garden….hosta and daylilies waiting to bloom.

Betty Corning clematis going crazy again. She gets cut down to 8” every spring, vine is at least 8’ tall and blooms for two months plus.

Great pictures Sherry!! I love the grouping of pots, mine are kinda spread around according to lighting conditions. But

I do have small grouping on these shelves:

Am working today on more pots. This is what I believe Elsa Spath Clemmie, flowers huge like dinnerplate, suppose to bloom several times a season.

    Thanks for posting everyone!

Ann, come on now, you know we are never done😉

We have a heavy duty cart to load the hosta pots stored in our shed and pull them to their patio spot, makes the job easy.

Sherry.."never done" 😝😝😝..true..I don't like this part either..when they pip I feel the need to put them out on nice days..then I watch the temperatures and haul them in at night..

I'm trying to make a low maintenance garden!

    😝😜😝😜😝😜..

I leave my hosta in the shed longer than you do, the pips get big……when i take them out they stay out. I agree it is a pain moving them so I do it once. It has worked out for me, havent lost any or had any frost damage.

Sherry..one move is a lot easier!..I wondered if I wait until past the frost date if the pips would be pale, bent and not stand up..the pips like the sun on warm spring days..so I put the pots out..hostas planted outside are effortless compared to my pots..

wish me some energy for planting 👍..

I'm glad your routine works for you 👍..my routine works but it's more work than I'm willing to do now 😂..

getting older is tough on gardeners 😉..

it happens to all of us..

I have had losses with pots and not willing to try anymore. Sherry, you are lucky to find great saving spot.

Debra, love Mexican style pots, the only ceramics that survived over the years were those frost proof ones.

Ann, I am too done with lugging pots, I have enough being my own everything as is. Although my pots are plastic so it is pot in pot situation. I am thinking if I keep pots I will have to put them in the ground to overwinter. I did not pot anything today either.

lindalana..my pots are plastic and it's just a few steps to move them..but I don't want to do it anymore..I want my hostas to live outside 😉..

Sherry what a gorgeous pot garden! Your garden is looking just wonderful and your Clem is spectacular!

Debra what a colourful display you have! Lovely plants and pots.

lindalana that is one beautiful Clem!

Ann when you think you are running out of steam to get your beauties planted just think I will never need to haul you in & out next spring.

I have a few in pots placed among the permanent beds but several that i don't really have spots for. Most are divisions, reversions, new ones or some that weren't doing well in the ground. I need to find or build a spot that i can display them properly.

Speaking of "pots", I was just gifted a new Wu La La for Father's Day by my DW. I plan to leave it in a pot for a year or two before finding a permanent spot for it. It is now in a 7 1/2 inch nursery pot. Should I go to a little larger pot and open up the root ball a little or just leave as is for this year? TYIA

old_dirt..you have some nice hostas in pots!..too bad you don't have spots to plant the best ones..

a pretty Wu La La..I think I'd move it to a slightly bigger pot..I'd hate for it to fall over..

Maybe I am lucky to have an insulated sun porch. This year on the first really warm day (you know, the one that shows up in late

March? And then it gets cold again?) I moved my pots from the garage to the porch and left them there until it was warm

enough to move them outside or plant them. It worked out really well. I watered them and moved them around so they wouldn’t get too much sun. They all survived!
