More storms today keep viewing to a minimum

Hard rain Thursday, yesterday and storms most of the day today. I barely had time to make a run around look! Enough time to see the deer had returned.

Captain Noodles is at the edge of the bed. No going into the beds today and no deadheading

These massive clumps are what I meander through each day

FFO on Garden Butterfly

Southern Cotton continues to have great color

FFO on Pattern Popper

Johnny Hodges in the tree bed, another round front bed and another tree bed in the distance

White Eyes Pink Dragon

FFO on Sweetest Name I Know

Strolling in the Roses

Money Maker Thursday morning before the rains came. So impressed with this cultivar; the next photo was taken at 5 pm after three heavy downpours during the day

Looks Like Christmas-this is best I have seen this bloom. It is so splotchy and I moved it last year hoping for improvement.

Looks Like Christmas buds-they all progress to look like this before opening

Substantial Evidence in a brown mood

Child of Bethlehem

Arnold’s Daughter looks good this year

What a lot of rain. We were supposed to have several days of rain, but very little of it has landed here. Most of it has gone north and east of where I live. Your daylilies look pretty good after the storms. Money Maker must be rainproof. I especially like that photo of Sweetest Name I Know. How has that one done for you? I know Maryl likes it.

Debra-so much rain!! I am sorry for the farmers in the area as things are looking bleak for their crops now-many areas are flooded. It just keeps rolling through. I like Sweetest Name. I have had it for several years. It has great substance. It is planted in an area that gets intense western sun and reflected brick heat from the house and still holds up great. Money Maker not only looked good after rains but it holds up well in the heat as well.

I like the form on Evidence of Aliens. A big flat face. It inspired me to get another Norris daylily, Rethink Pink.....Coming upon that picture of White Eyes Pink Dragon will wake a person up. The intensity of the pink is brilliant in your picture......... I like the colors on Captain Noodle also. That large golden center really sets it off. That name makes me smile too...........The rain is getting serious now. We just had another downpour minutes ago on top of almost an inch this morning and inches the day before that. I'm buying one of those wooden roll out walkways so I can get off my back porch. Just a mud hole out there now. Do you think it will drown out the moles? That would be a little sunshine in amongst the clouds.............Maryl

Thanks, Maryl. Serious here as well. Local towns had significant flooding yesterday. I bet moles even have gills! I have no hope that they will not survive this soggy ground! Mosquitos are horrible. As much as I abhor them, they adore me.

You know I like the large round flat forms and many of Norris’ fit that bill. Later blooms on Evidence of Aliens will be yellow and sometimes both colors at the same time!

Another nice grouping. I don't blame you for not going into the beds to deadhead. I am surprised at your Evidence Of Aliens as I grew it in NYS. I've never seen it brownish yellow. I loved that one for its windblown look (recurved) after an hour of being open. I wonder if it is something in your soil?

So good to hear that Money Maker is a good plant! I got it this spring, and so far it is about the best looking plant I got in the spring. Did not get that many though...Beautiful photos!

Julia, thanks for the catch. I got my evidence mixed up! That, of course, is Substantial Evidence. Brain cells are not working as fast as I need them!

Nancy, I think you will love Money Maker.

We have had a lot of rain here too, but it sounds like you have had much more. Our garden doesn't hold the water so we have been ok. It looks like Money Maker is a great variety. I like its face and it's such an added bonus for it to be rain proof. I also like Captain Noodles and Arnold's Daughter.

Nancy, we live on a rise so normally my gardens don’t hold water. But, we have had significant spring rains since March and these June rains have been flooding rains and there is just so much the ground can hold! The upside is that the moisture has created a season to remember!!
