Help with green….

So far best match is SW Jasper Stone. But DH prefers light colors.

But I just found SWQuietude.

We will be moving and I would like some color in the next home. Great room will be BM Whie Dove.

Can either if these be made lighter for LRV over 50?

Tell me the pros and cons.

Short answer is no.

How does this work?

I own a color lab. Colors are created in theoretical color space and it is not a direct path to a physical can of paint.

From the outside looking in, it seems logical to cut the ratio of colorants to can of base paint. When you get into the science of each component and how they interact, you understand why the results of attempting to change a formula are unpredictable.

Unpredictable is the key word.

It explains why some people have some success cutting some colors.

It also explains why cutting/doubling/changing the formula is an absolute epic fail for other colors.

Higher of course would be better.

In all of the paint brands out there, the closest existing paint color to Jasper Stone that has the most similar color DNA - but looks lighter - is White Rain 708, LRV 65

Get a chip, if you like it get a sample.

If that doesn't work - THEN - go to the paint store and see what they can do for a custom color with Jasper Stone as the starting point. Choose the product and sheen you want to use, and make sure they start wit a quart.

Your best bet is White Rain 708. It's essentially Quietude but lighter and slightly more neutral. There isn't another color in that range in any other brand.

Quietude is pretty, but once painted over a few hundred square feet of wall space it is pretty loud.

I would test Comfort Gray. I know the name says gray and the small sample may look too gray, but once it is painted over a few hundred square feet it is a beautiful shade of blueish green. It is very pretty with Jasper Stone. Test one shade lighter as well.- SW Sea Salt.

Bedding and walls don't need to be a perfect match, they need to complement each other and look good together. Bedding is often a bit richer and darker. The walls are a backdrop for the bed and bedding, not the star of the show.

If you look at the 6212 Quietude webpage, you see that 6211 Rainwashed is lighter with an LRV of 59.

Artists mix paint colors all the time and simply use more or less white to get new shades.

Paint colors can be a bit trickier when we need to go from a medium base to a light base.

What can be done very easily is to get a sample of Jasper Stone and a sample of the ultra white base.

Use an oral medicine syringe and measure 3 cc of Jasper stone and 1 cc of white. Mix them together and paint a sample board. If that isn't light enough measure 2 cc of each color. Keep mixing and testing until you are happy with the color.

When you get something you are happy with have the store do a color match to your sample
