How does that work if the fireplace is in use?

I have used tv mounts before that swivel from both side to side and up and down. Haven't used one with an armature that allows for lowering the tv entirely. In theory it sounds great but as millworkman pointes out that might present a problem if the fireplace is in use.

Spot on. It would be a no go for me. Most of my tv viewing is done during the winter. I used my fireplace all the time. So the tv needs to be anywhere but above the fireplace.

Correct - from my understanding, you cannot pull down the TV if the fireplace is on! You would have to leave it in the “up” position. I am in FL, though, so we do not use the fireplace that often.

@cpartist used a mantel mount when she built in southwest FL.

My understa nding is they cannot ge use to lower the TV when the FP is in use but work well for the purpose they were designed for which might have limitations as to size of TV

It is true that the fireplace cannot be lit if the TV with mantle mount is pulled down. We bought a home with mantle mount installed. It’s great and easy to use. However, we live in the south and don’t use a fireplace often.
